The name “Rosendorf”

Around 1950, nearly 300 residents, mainly of Sorbian origin, lived in the towns of Rosendorf and Sorno where the Sedlitzer lake is now located. The towns were cleared in 1972 so that Rosendorf, once known as Zasery in Sorbian, disappeared. From 1540 on, this name was abolished in the German translation because of its offensive meaning.
